Psalm 117

  1. O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
  2. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord.

Psalm 117 is a concise yet powerful call to praise the Lord, addressed not only to the nation of Israel but to all the nations and peoples of the earth. The psalmist urges everyone, regardless of nationality or background, to join in praising God.

The reason for this universal call to praise is twofold: first, the psalmist acknowledges the greatness of God’s merciful kindness toward humanity, emphasizing His compassionate and loving nature. Second, the psalmist affirms the enduring truth of the Lord, highlighting His faithfulness and reliability throughout all generations.

In just two short verses, Psalm 117 encapsulates the universal invitation to worship God for His boundless mercy and eternal truth. It serves as a reminder of the inclusive nature of God’s love and the importance of offering Him praise and adoration.
